Your files. Like actually yours.

The Space team1 min read

Most cloud storage asks you to make a quiet trade. You get convenience, and in return your files live on someone else's terms — locked into a format, a plan, or a company that can change the rules whenever it likes.

We think that trade is backwards. So we built Space around a single idea:

Your files should be yours. Actually yours.

Three ways to store, one way to feel

Space lets you decide where your bytes physically live:

  1. On our providers — fast, encrypted, always-on storage billed by the GB-month.
  2. On your own provider — point Space at your S3, Backblaze, or any compatible bucket. We never touch your bytes, and you pay your provider directly.
  3. On your device — install the companion app and keep everything local. No account required.

Whichever you pick, the apps feel identical. You can switch at any time without re-learning anything.

What "yours" actually means

  • You hold the keys. Everything is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves your device.
  • You can leave. Export everything in standard formats, any time, for free.
  • You pay for what you use. No seats, no tiers to outgrow — just GB-months.

That's the whole philosophy. Everything we build has to pass one test: does this make your files more yours, or less?

If it makes them less, we don't ship it.
